1. Eligibility and your account
You must be at least 18, have the legal capacity to accept these terms, and be legally permitted to use a dating service where you live. Do not create an account for a child or use another person’s identity.
Provide accurate account and profile information, including your date of birth. Keep your sign-in methods secure, do not share access, and tell us if you suspect unauthorized use. You are responsible for your own conduct and content; these terms do not make you responsible for losses caused by our failure to meet obligations the law imposes on us.
Do not use LumaPair if you are required to register as a sex offender, have been convicted of a sexual offense, or have been banned from the service unless we reinstate your account. These eligibility rules are not a representation that we have screened other members.
When creating an account, review these terms and the Community Guidelines. The Privacy Policy explains our data practices; it is not a waiver of your privacy rights.
2. What the service provides
LumaPair offers member profiles, discovery preferences, mutual matching, text conversations, and audio/video calling. Availability depends on your device, network, location, permissions, and the features currently enabled.
Suggestions, prompts, compatibility indicators, and philosophical reflections are general conversation tools. They are not professional, medical, psychological, legal, or financial advice. We do not promise matches, replies, relationships, or a particular outcome. Images used to illustrate the public landing page are not actual member profiles.
3. Verification and background checks
LumaPair does not conduct criminal background screenings on its members. We do not verify every profile claim. Account sign-in, including through Google, Apple, or email, does not verify age or identity.
A verification badge describes only a completed check. For example, a phone check confirms control of a number at the time of the check. It does not establish legal identity, a clean criminal history, continued control of an account, good character, or personal safety. An unavailable or incomplete check must not be treated as completed.
Use your judgment, respect boundaries, and read the verification and safety information before interacting or meeting.
4. Respect, consent, and prohibited use
Follow the Community Guidelines. Consent must be freely given and can be withdrawn. A match, reply, or call is never consent to sexual activity, recording, sharing private content, or continued contact.
Do not harass, threaten, stalk, discriminate, impersonate, defraud, solicit money, exploit others, share intimate material without consent, or post unlawful content. Child sexual exploitation, trafficking, and sexual content involving minors are prohibited. Do not upload explicit sexual content or use the service for commercial sexual services.
Do not scrape member information, use bots or bulk messaging, sell member data, distribute malware, evade account restrictions, or attempt unauthorized access. Do not use discovery or profile information to discriminate unlawfully or harm others.
5. Your content and permissions
You retain ownership of the photos, profile details, messages, and other content you submit. Only share content you have the right to use, including permission from identifiable people where required. Do not upload another person’s confidential information.
You give us a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to store, host, transmit, display, resize, and otherwise technically process that content only as needed to operate, secure, moderate, and provide the service according to your choices and our Privacy Policy. Our service providers may process it for those purposes. This is not permission to sell your intimate messages or use your photos in advertisements without a separate authorization.
This license ends when the relevant content is deleted from our systems, except for permitted retention described in the Privacy Policy. Copies another person has independently saved may be outside our control.
LumaPair’s name, design, and software remain ours or our licensors’. You may use the service for its intended personal purpose, but may not misrepresent an affiliation with us or copy protected material beyond what law permits.
6. Reports and account restrictions
You can block a member or report a profile or conversation. When reporting a conversation, you choose whether to include recent message context. Authorized administrators can review reports and relevant account information, and may remove content, hide profiles, pause accounts, or ban accounts for violations, safety concerns, fraud, or legal requirements.
We do not promise to review every interaction, detect every violation, or respond immediately. We aim to apply restrictions proportionately and may act urgently when safety or law requires it. A report alone is not proof of wrongdoing.
If you believe a restriction is mistaken, request a review with the account information and relevant facts. Do not bypass a restriction by creating another account. Nothing here limits any appeal or explanation rights required by law.
7. Payments and subscriptions
Payment collection and paid subscriptions are not currently enabled. Any displayed paid-plan ideas are previews, not an active purchase or automatic renewal. We do not currently collect payment-card or bank-account details through LumaPair.
If we introduce paid features, the checkout must tell you the total price, billing interval, whether a subscription renews, how to cancel, and the applicable refund and withdrawal terms before you agree to pay. You will not be enrolled in a paid plan merely by using this beta.
Mandatory consumer rights and any legally required refunds remain available. Do not send money to another member or someone claiming to collect unofficial LumaPair fees.
8. Availability and third parties
The member beta may contain errors or interruptions. We may change, suspend, or discontinue features for maintenance, security, or product reasons, subject to legal obligations and reasonable notice where required. Keep your own copies of information you need.
Sign-in services, network providers, external social links, and other third-party services have their own terms. We are not responsible for services we do not control, subject to duties the law places on us. Calls and meetings depend on the choices of the participants.
9. Disclaimers and liability limits
To the extent permitted by applicable law, the service is provided “as is” and “as available”, without additional implied warranties of fitness for a particular purpose, merchantability, or non-infringement. This does not remove statutory guarantees that apply to you.
To that same extent, we are not liable for indirect or consequential losses, lost profits, or lost opportunities arising from use of the service. Where a financial cap is lawful, our total liability for claims relating to the service is limited to the greater of US $100 or the amount you paid us for the service in the 12 months before the event giving rise to the claim.
Exceptions: Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability for our fraud, willful misconduct, gross negligence, death or personal injury caused by negligence where liability cannot lawfully be limited, or any other responsibility that applicable law does not allow us to exclude or limit. Mandatory consumer protections, privacy rights, and remedies remain intact. Where an exclusion or cap is not permitted, it does not apply.
You make your own decisions about sharing information, communicating, and meeting other people. We cannot guarantee or control another member’s behavior. That limitation is not a release of our own non-excludable legal obligations.
10. Leaving LumaPair
You may stop using LumaPair, pause discovery, remove optional profile information, or request account deletion. Pausing discovery or signing out does not delete an account. Deletion and legally justified retention are explained in the Privacy Policy.
Provisions that need to continue by their nature, such as lawful content retention, unresolved disputes, and applicable liability limits, survive account closure only to the extent needed and allowed by law.
11. Changes and legal rights
We will date revised terms here. For material changes, we will give notice and seek fresh agreement when required before the changes take effect. Changes will not retroactively remove accrued legal rights.
Applicable law determines your rights and the courts available to you. These terms do not require private arbitration, waive class-action rights, or prevent you from contacting a regulator. If one provision is unenforceable, the remaining provisions apply only insofar as they can lawfully stand on their own.
